is a singer with a sonorous voice who also plays multiple instruments. His professional career has spanned a wide arc. Born in Santiago, Cuba, he first studied violin and piano at the Esteban Salas Conservatory and then enrolled at the National School of Arts in Havana, where he added classical guitar and lute to his musical accomplishments before graduating.
In Cuba, he played in Havana’s principal concert halls, including the National Theater, El Capri, El Salón Rosado de la Tropical, and ExpoCuba.
After touring France with the group Corazones de Fuego, Roy went to live in Madrid. There he joined four other musicians to form Roy’s Band, which toured Spain various times playing at media festivals such the Festival de Alcoy, Womad (Cáceres), and the Festival de Músicas del Mundo and venues including the Galileo Galiley, Clamores, Florida Park, La Riviera, and La Cubierta de Leganés.
Over the years he has also toured with many famous artists of the caliber of Albita Rodríguez, María Dolores Pradera, Los Panchos, Eliades Ochoa, Grupo Niche, Carmen París, José Alberto el Canario, Alain Pérez, Septeto Santiaguero, Manu Tenorio, Ángela Carrasco, Rita Irasema, and Emilio Aragón. He has recorded with Los Panchos, Negra Tomasa, and Corazones de Fuego, among others.
