Vladimir Núñez

is one of the best Cuban percussionists working today. His technique is truly spectacular and a real experience to watch live. He switches among a huge number of instruments, playing them with enormous energy.

He began his professional career at the age of 19 with a group called the “Jóvenes Clásicos del Son”, with which he toured internationally twice in 1995. In 1998 he journeyed to Spain with “Jelengue Grupo”, deciding to stay and live there after being invited to join the new musical project called “Orishas”.

Vladimir thus belonged to Orishas from its inception in 1998 until its end in 2009, performing in more than 22 countries and gracing the world’s foremost concert halls and festivals, including Rock in Río, the Vancouver Jazz Festival, the Summer Jam Festival, Roskilde, MTV Day and MTV Summer, ParkPop, Balaton Sound, the Caprices Festival, the Gurten Festival, Womad, the festivals of Viña del Mar y Olmué, Viñarock, etc.

During his years with Orishas, he was personally awarded two gold records for his work on the albums A Lo Cubano and El Kilo.

Vladimir also toured with artists of the stature of Concha Buika and Carmen París. He was involved in recording projects that included El Kilo (Orishas), Antidiótico (Orishas), Cosita Buena (Orishas), Buika (Concha Buika), and Pasaporte Afrolatino (Jelengue Grupo), alongside many other collaborations.
